Summer Activity Camps 2008

20 - 26 July * 27 July - 2 August
3 - 9 August * 10 -16 August

Jo Farrington has been organising activity holidays for the past twenty years. Moorland Hall is a beautiful Victorian Country House to run courses from.

The house, which also has a swimming pool, stands in its own five acres of gardens and paddocks in some of the most beatiful scenery within Dartmoor National Park in West Devon.

Children live with the Farrington family and with numbers of between 20 - 40 children staying at any one time, they soon feel very at home in the relaxed and happy atmosphere of this beautiful family home.

A holiday at Moorland hall is a holiday with a purpose. Everyone has fun and makes new friends, but above all they come away with a sense of achievement and with skills that they will value for the rest of their lives.

The activities that we organise include many of the things that young people dream about doing, even if they are designed to develop qualities of leadership, stamina, teamwork and confidence! Our aim is for everyone to have fun while achieving the challenges set for them.

Safety is our priority, and our equipment is modern and well maintained. Fully qualified instructors always supervise all the activities, which include:

There are also many indoor activities:

We have male and female staff, who together with Jo Farrington provide close supervision at night, so that there is always someone close at hand if the need arises. In the main house there is a large sunny sitting room, a conservatory, television and dining room.

One of the features of Moorland Hall is that it is a family home and because of the relaxed atmosphere, children do quickly feel at home here.

Most of our guests are aged between 9 and 15. Many of our guests come alone, but very soon mix with all the other children. Those who have not been away from home before may like to bring a friend. Because we are a small organisation, we can keep a careful eye on how everyone is getting on, to make sure they are happy and enjoying their holiday.table tennis

W
e have a large number of children from overseas coming to stay with us too, including Austrians, Spanish, French and Portuguese. They are here to learn English, and enjoy mixing with our English guests, often forming strong friendships that last for many years.

We believe that our popularity is partly due to our unrivalled facilities, but most of all to the warm and cheerful atmosphere that pervades the house.
