School Activity Courses

Moorland Hall is situated approximately 4 miles north of Tavistock on the western boundary of Dartmoor National Park. The house itself has direct access onto the moor and is ideally placed for offering a huge variety of outdoor pursuits using the areas natural facilities.

Jo Farrington has been involved in organising outdoor pursuits for young people for some 20 years, and together with his team of qualified and dedicated instructors ensures that everyone gets the maximum benefit from their stay.

The activities are aimed at bringing out qualities such as teamwork; confidence, leadership, trust and stamina.

Activities Available Include:

Kayaking: This takes place on sheltered waters in a quarry, just a few minutes drive from the centre.

Rock Climbing and Abseiling: Set against the backdrop of Dartmoor granite tors and a local granite quarry. Familiarisation of equipment can be done on a climbing wall located at the centre.

Assault Course and Initiative problems: A multitude of different problems and tasks, designed to promote teamwork, communication and leadership skills.

Raft Building: Provides more opportunities for team building exercises, this is again carried out just a few minutes drive from the centre.
