Field Study Courses

Moorland Hall is a perfect place for schools planning field study courses. Situated approximately 4 miles north of the ancient market and stannary town of Tavistock, and on the western boundary of Dartmoor National Park, with its wide open moors, wooded valleys, rushing rivers and a wealth of other natural facilities. Be it Geography, Geology, or Ecology, teachers will find that there is a huge range of topics to be explored.

Jo Farrington has been helping groups organise such trips for some 20 years, providing professionally run courses in a personal environment. He ensures that you will start the day with a full cooked breakfast, and provides a nourishing packed lunch and a welcome home-cooked evening meal on your return.

Accommodation for visiting groups is in the large modern converted coach house, attached to the main house. With washing and shower facilities close at hand to the 4 large dormitories, we can take a maximum of 45 children at a time. Visiting teachers can be accommodated both in the coach house and the main house.

The house itself has a large sunny sitting room/games room, a smaller cosy lounge for visiting staff, a conservatory and a dinning room/class room. Other facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool, playing field, assault course and a climbing wall. A 17 seater minibus with seat belts is also available for hire with driver/guide.
